WFTU-FISE Expresses Solidarity with Nepalese Teachers’ Movement at International Conference

The World Federation of Teachers’ Unions (WFTU-FISE) has extended its unwavering solidarity and support to the Nepalese Teachers’ Movement, acknowledging their struggle for professional dignity, better working conditions, and equitable education. The announcement was made during the 20th International Conference of WFTU-FISE, held in Rabat, Morocco, where global educators gathered to discuss pressing issues in education and teachers' rights.

In a formal solidarity message, WFTU-FISE Chairman Drissi Abderrazak emphasized the dedication of Nepalese teachers in advocating for a just, scientific, and secular education system. The organization particularly commended the Confederation of Nepalese Teachers (CNT) for its leadership in championing public education and fighting against privatization and commercialization.

The statement highlighted the Nepalese teachers’ persistent efforts to uphold democratic values in education despite political, economic, and geographical challenges. It also underscored the importance of international solidarity in resisting policies that undermine teachers' rights and public education.

WFTU-FISE reaffirmed its commitment to the Nepalese teachers' cause, raising its voice for:

  • Protection of public education from privatization and commercialization
  • Increased investment in educational infrastructure and teacher development
  • Fair wages, job security, and trade union rights for all educators
  • An education system that fosters peace, critical thinking, and global solidarity

“The Nepalese teachers’ movement is not alone. Your fight is our fight,” the message declared, calling for continued collective action to shape an education system that prioritizes people and communities.

The conference concluded with a strong call to unite teachers worldwide in their struggle for quality education, fair labor rights, and international cooperation.
